Ennis Montana is easy to get to and a wonderful place to visit or stay for a lifetime! Bozeman airport (BZN) is a beautiful drive showcasing the Madison River and Valley. In less than 90 minutes you can be to or from the airport. For small aircraft including Choice Aviation and netjets you can fly out of The Ennis/Big Sky Airport located minutes from Main St. Ennis.

Once you have arrived, there plenty of lots to build your dream home with views of the Tobacco Root mountains, the Gravely range, The Madison River and the vast open range. Lots prices have a wide rage in price per acre depending on your view of choice. New construction is on the rise.

Ennis has a full array of building products and licensed contractors to meet home upgrades or full construction requirements.

The job market is extremely diverse and both full time and seasonal. Of course, outdoor activities are a main souse of employment there are plenty of opportunities to work in any trade. Beaverhead National Forest

Montana’s largest national forest covers 3.32 million acres. Outdoor recreational opportunities include camping and hiking, plus snowmobiling and cross country skiing in winter. 406-683-3900.

Bear Trap Canyon

Eight-mile canyon of whitewater and wilderness begins at the spillway of Ennis Lake Dam. Hikers and fishermen access via trails. Kayakers and rafters should be very experienced or hire a guide.

Ruby Reservoir

South of Alder, has good access for camping, fishing and boating. Ice fishing in the winter.

Lewis & Clark Interpretive Park

Located at the entrance to the county fairgrounds in Twin Bridges. The park offers the public insight into the five days the Corps spent in this area. Don’t miss the six-foot bronze statue of Sacajawea. 406-683-5824.

  • Beaverhead River - Prime fishing waters renowned for the population of large brown trout with a good mix of rainbows.

  • Jefferson River - Near Twin Bridges where the Beaverhead, Big Hole and Ruby Rivers meet.

  • Madison River - One of the most famous trout streams in the world flows right through Ennis.

  • Ruby River - Small stream running through Alder, Sheridan and Twin Bridges.

  • Big Hole River - Runs through Wisdom, Jackson, Wise River, Melrose and empties into the Jefferson River near Twin Bridges.

  • Kids’ Fishing Hole - In Virginia City, open to children 12 and under.
